3. FOR FOUNDATIONS : LEARNING TO SHARE
EKOMINI™ becomes a window for child-focused causes.
Saving money and sharing money are at the heart of EKOMINI™ principles of financial education. Children are invited to choose a cause and support it.
EKOMINI™ also creates a showcase for established cause-based organizations and foundations so they may explain through a corporate video or information why their cause is important.
As children learn the meaning of money they also discover how important it is to share and donate to causes they believe in.
EKOMINI™ educates kids on various causes and lets them choose or propose a cause they believe in.
Teaching them to evaluate which causes are worthy, and to balance giving with saving and spending is more valuable than simply telling them that they should be generous without providing any guidance.
EKOMINI™ will showcase and promote your cause on its web site. Each accepted foundation will have the space on the EKOMINI™ web site to explain its cause, why it is important to support it, make video webcasts available as well as offer links to its own website.
EKOMINI™ can even integrate within its web platform, content specific to a participating cause.

6. SCHOOLS
Opportunity for teachers
The recession, the consumer society, money, our children’s education.
How do we respond to the concerns parents have of talking about money with their children? How do we teach children to set goals and achieve them in a practical manner? What tools do you have as a teacher to assist you in these tasks?
Ekomini is a tool that helps children aged 6 to 12 better understand the concept and value of money—skills that will last them a lifetime. Ekomini teaches the basics of saving money and includes guidelines for earning and saving, setting goals, learning to share and donating and investing.
Ekomini is a modern-day piggy bank that connects to the Internet. Through interactive games and story-telling, Ekomini combines lessons in mathematics discovery, environmental awareness, savings and economics.
Ekomini is different from other games and educational software because it’s a real life experience for children: the results are not virtual but real! A child does not save money on a notebook or on a board game, but in real life. It doesn’t provide for virtual goods, but real items. Girls and boys do not win imaginary bicycles through a game, but real bikes on which they can go ride with their friends.
Ekomini is a great program for all: It teaches children how to save, spend, give or invest with real tools in real situations. Children become aware that money is a tool and truly understand its value; they learn the price of the products they want and how to plan in order to purchase them. They learn what they have to do in order to get them and how long it will take to do it. They set their goals and reach them. Ekomini makes them aware of the needs of others and awakens them to compassion for the less fortunate. Finally, they discover how to invest in the short, medium and long term depending on the goals they set.
In short: Ekomini is designed for all children from kindergarten to the end of primary education.
Simultaneously, an effective interactive tool is made available to parents in order to monitor the in-game activities of their children, identify progress issues and inform them of ways to solve them.

AN INVITATION TO TEACHERS (PRIMARY LEVEL)
Ekomini cordially invites you to participate in its financial literacy program. Every month, one participating primary-level class will receive an Ekomini moneybox for each of its students (maximum 30 units). The winning class will be selected at random from all participating entry ballots.
We wish to test the first phase of the program with schoolchildren in various parts of Canada to better understand the needs of our children and plan the continuation of our activities.
